Roxanne's story

Harold Haig was one of the thousands of children deported from the UK. He came back to Britain in 2010 for the national apology made by the then Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, who said "Your pain is recognised, your suffering is understood, your betrayal is acknowledged by the apology that I make on behalf of our whole country."

Nottinghamshire, the home base for the Child Migrants Trust, was always a special place for Harold who died in 2012. There's a small memorial near County Hall by there banks for the River Trent. It's where Harold's ashes were scattered. So it was an emotional journey to that spot for Roxanne, Harold's granddaughter, and her family.
